THE DALES FITNESS

The Dales was a primary school that closed down and in 2002 it opened up as a community gym for the football teams on the estate. The community started to use it and in 4 years it grew. We now have 2 all weather pitches, and a mobile unit (Bransholme Buddies). We have started a pilot scheme for the Community Caretaker to go round the estate doing gardening and decorating.

We are an accredited centre for ASDAN for school children who are close to being excluded from school. We deliver a health and fitness program with the young people and we have a reptile room where the young people look after the lizards, spiders and snakes.

We stage two events at the Bransholme Carnival, the Strong Man and a Football Tournament and we have events for Halloween and Bonfire Night. We have a children's event, The Festival of Light where we walk round the estate with lights and have a party afterwards.

COMMUNITY CARETAKERS
We have 3 community caretakers who are skilled in decorating and gardening who work on the estate and will do small jobs for a donation.

BRANSHOLME BUDDIES
The mobile unit is a youth club for young people. It has a pool table. Football table and TV's plus a games console. The age group we work with 8yrs to 19yrs. We also do outdoor activities in the summer.

During the school holiday we work with The Dales Fitness Centre providing activities such as craft and sports. We also take the young people on camping trips.
